area of influence

area or combination of areas surrounding a civil engineering works that can be affected with changes to their economical, environmental or social conditions by the civil engineering works' operations throughout its life cycle (3.6.13)

Note 1

The area of influence is variable and dependent on the construction works project, its location and its life cycle stage. As an overall approach, the area of influence will be usually limited to the civil engineering works itself and its immediate surroundings.
