Note 1

The concentration of total dissolved solids in brackish water can vary from 1 000 mg/l to 10 000 mg/l. Brackish water is less saline than sea water (1 000 to 10 000 mg/l of TDS for brackish vs up to 35 000 mg/l for sea water).

Note 2

The concentration of total dissolved solids of many brackish waters can vary considerably over space and/or time.
